It’s an understatement to say that we live in an ever-changing environment that requires us to keep educating and developing ourselves.
Thing is, as time passes in a job, people tend to move into a comfort zone (in worse cases, they think they know it all 😊).
Here are 3 things I do to encourage a culture of learning at work:
1. Every week each team member needs to recap 2-3 articles they’ve read in a dedicated Slack channel. This helps everyone learn something new, and even the most junior team members adopt the habit of reading on a weekly basis.
2. Regularly, the team needs to present a subject from an online course (including my online courses). Needless to say, the fact that it’s also their occupation in everyday life provides a lot of clarity.
3. Whenever I come across an interesting and relevant piece, I send it to the team via email, usually with an action item. This creates a sense of accountability to learn the information and gain the knowledge needed to execute on it.
