Anyone that has ever started (or starting right now) a business knows the feeling – everything is structureless, you feel you’re scattered and can’t understand how everyone else manages to do it, well, everyone – but you.
OMG the endless list of things I thought we were doing wrong when we began building our business. Doubting yourself in the goal of making it work better is part of the process. But there’s one approach that we took and I think has worked very well for us: we were saying yes to everything. Anyone that knocked on our door and wanted to share an idea, have a chat, get our advice, talk about a collaboration – we met with them. In a way – we were “careless” with our time. It helped us sharpen our business focus, improve our pitch, some dots connected later in the future and finally – it was really interesting to meet all these people (even if some of them were kind of time-wasters 🙂 ).
Today, we don’t have a choice but to be much more “careful” with our time. In hindsight, the initial approach paid off and I think it might work for others too. So, if you’re just starting out – you know what to say 🙂
