I have interviewed several hundred candidates over the years.

Here are 3 unusual questions I like to ask that will teach you x100 more about the candidate than the usual “tell me about yourself”.

1. If you had no financial or other restrictions today, what would you choose to do tomorrow?

2. What excites you? To set the stage for the follow-up question – what makes you angry?

3. What would make you leave our company? 

You’ll understand the person’s context better, what they care about, and most importantly – their values.
