It wasn’t intentional, but somehow everyone on our Mauritius team ended up with a nickname.
What I discovered is that this is not only a very human thing to do in teams, but it also gives people a sense of belonging – a feeling of being at home, with a name that existed only among their colleagues.
I think whenever I didn’t use their nickname, they knew I wasn’t happy 😊
A small gesture, yet it had a meaningful impact.
