In 2014, Facebook Inc. bought WhatsApp for $19B – one of the biggest acquisitions in the space at the time.
And just last month, 11 years later, Meta announced it’s integrating ads into WhatsApp (starting with the Updates tab, for now).
The only thing I wonder is how it took this long… (Well, you’ve got to fund those alleged $100 million poaching attempts from OpenAI somehow:)).
I wish it didn’t need saying, but… tech founders – think about your business model. Growth matters, but without profits, it’s not much of a long game.
