How I manage 14 properties (almost) fully remotely:
- Fast communication – replying quickly to guests’ messages is key. It makes them feel you’re present even when you’re not physically there.
- A strong team – from cleaning to maintenance, your team is your eyes and ears. Invest time in finding reliable people and treating them well – they make or break your operations.
- Self check-in + clear instructions – make arrival seamless. A smooth check-in sets the tone for the entire stay.
- Security cameras + noise monitors – they help you know who’s entering the property and reduce potential risks.
- Photo/video post cleaning – ask your cleaners for photos or short videos every so often. You don’t need it after every clean, but it’s a simple way to ensure everything stays in top shape.
- Guest feedback – when a guest raises an issue, take it seriously and act fast. It’s how you prevent small problems from turning into bigger ones.
- Routine inspections – we make sure to personally inspect each property every 6–8 weeks. It keeps standards high and helps the team stay accountable.
Managing remotely isn’t about doing less – it’s about doing things differently, with the right systems and the right people.
